I have just started my second baby led weaning journey with Rupert and I’m enjoying making some of my favourites again. I posted a reel of these Air Fryer Cheese Twists on my Instagram this week and quite a few of you have asked for the recipe card. I’ve added it to the bottom of this post.
These air fryer cheese twists only take around 5 minutes to make (plus cooking). They’re a favourite for our entire household (adults included). You can use all sorts of different fillings, cheese, pesto, cheese and pickle, jam/chutney to name a few but this recipe is for the basic cheese twist.
I have a few new baby led weaning recipes coming this month including homemade teething biscuits, easy egg muffins and a blackberry sheet pancake so keep an eye out for those. They always hit my social media first so make sure you’re following on Instagram so you don’t miss them.
How do I serve these CHEESE TWISTS TO MY BABY?
You can serve them whole or cut in half. I tend to cut them in half for Rupert but that’s only because they end up on the floor.
Can I freeze air fryer cheese twists?
Yes they can be frozen once cooked for up to 6 months.
What age are these cheese twists suitable from when baby led weaning?
They are suitable for babies from 6 months of age.
How do I store these cheese twists?
I store them in a glass Tupperware container in the fridge for 3-4 days, then any not eaten I put in the freezer. You can freeze them directly after cooking (once cooled) if you’re not planning on eating them right away.

Total Time

Ingredients
-
Ready to roll puff pastry sheet
-
40g soft cheese (estimated)
-
50g cheddar cheese (grated)
-
Egg, water or milk to glaze
Instructions
- Remove the puff pastry sheet from the fridge 10 minutes before use, this makes it easier to work with.
- Roll out your puff pastry sheet.
- Spread cream cheese (or cheese alternative) all over the puff pastry sheet, making sure to go right to the edges.
- Sprinkle grated cheese over the entire sheet.
- Fold your puff pastry sheet in half length ways, press down and cut into 15 even strips.
- Starting from the middle, twist each section tightly (there is a video on my Instagram page @thisbristolmum).
- Glaze with whisked egg, water or milk (this isn't neccessary but gives them more of a shine).
- Put them in your air fryer using the greaseproof paper provided, leaving a couple of cm space between each one to allow them to "puff".
- Air fry at 180c for 5 minutes, turn over, then air fry for a further 5 minutes.
Notes
You can add/change any fillings of these. I often make sweet ones, cheese and pickle, pesto. If not using an air fryer put them in the oven for 20 minutes at 180c.
