Microwave Porridge Oat Bars

September 18, 2024 ami Leave a comment

Another very quick, easy recipe for you today with these Microwave Porridge Oat Bars. These take just 5 minutes to make from start to finish. I’ve been posting more recipes on Instagram, and TikTok (yes I’ve finally given in) and I’ve been trying to keep them as easy peasy as possible. I try and keep things to just a few steps and don’t overcomplicate things. I’ve also been making videos to show the steps if anything is a bit tricky.

These porridge oat bars just use a few simple ingredients – rolled oats, milk and something for flavour. I’ve used blueberries and cinnamon in these but you can use whatever you like. I tend to use whatever I need to use up/have in the fridge. The blueberries were looking a bit worse for wear so I decided to use these today. Although they were soft, I still crushed them so they would be suitable for baby led weaning.

What other fillings can you use?

You can use any fruit, I’ve used blueberries, blackberries and strawberries in the past. You can also use apple, apple and cinnamon are lovely, but I do soften the apples in the microwave first.

Can you use a milk ALTERNATIVE?

Yes any milk will work fine for the microwave porridge oat bars. I have personally tried both oat and soya milk and they have worked well each time. I prefer the taste of oat milk myself.

Are these microwave porridge oat bars suitable for baby led weaning?

These are perfect for baby led weaning. Make sure the fruit used inside is cut/cooked appropriately. I crush blueberries, quarter grapes and finely slice apple.

Are these vegan?

These are suitable for vegans when an alternative milk is used.

How do I serve Porridge Bars to my Baby?

I serve them whole or break them in half. Only so he doesn’t throw the whole lot on the floor when we’re out and about.

Can I freeze these microwave porridge oat bars?

Yes you can freeze them for up to 6 months. I take one out the night before on in the morning on the day I’d like to use them. I sometimes defrost in the microwave too but prefer not to do this.
