St. Mary’s Play Area is tucked away behind St. Mary’s Church and School and is one I stumbled upon accidentally whilst in Yate for a baby group with Rupert. After walking past I knew Arthur would love it so had to take him back. It’s now a firm favourite of his and is nicknamed “the pedal park” because of the pedal roundabout (which is fab and I’ve never seen anywhere else…yet).
There’s a range of different equipment for all ages in St. Mary’s Play Area Yate. Arthur’s favourite that I’ve mentioned above is the pedal roundabout. I found it fun as a 31 year old adult so imagine the delight for a 3 year old! There are also various toddler and teen climbing frames, a HUGE wavy slide, a trampoline, swings and much more. The slide needed a little bit of a wax/clean and there were a couple of other bits of equipment needing attention but all in all it was well looked after and one I know we’ll return to.
Is There Parking Near St. Mary’s Park Yate?
There isn’t any dedicated parking for the park itself but there is a small car park near the church which I have used in the past. There is also parking on the roads surrounding the park.
Are There any facilities?
There aren’t any toilets at the park but Yate Shopping Centre is just over the road. As is The Lawns Pub if you fancy a drink/something to eat.
Is there a cafe?
There are many cafes nearby at Yate Shopping Centre. One I’d recommend is Bolero Lounge. There is also The Lawns Pub which does delicious “pub grub” or a refreshing drink. There’s a McDonalds walking distance too if this is more your thing!
What else is nearby to St. Mary’s Play area Yate?
There are other local parks in the area such as Kingsgate Park or The Witches Hat if you’re not limited for time! There is also Atlantis Soft Play in Yate Leisure Centre which is a firm favourite of ours. And The Play Shed Yate a little further afield.
