Low Fodmap Foods at UK Supermarkets

January 3, 2025January 4, 2025 ami 4 comments

As many readers will know, or if you follow me on social media, my fiance has been struggling with stomach issues for around 2 years now. It’s been an ordeal (bless him) which even ended up with me driving myself to hospital in labour when he had blood clots on his lungs. I still need to write my birth story somewhere! He’s has many tests, probably all that you can think of, but yet to find a solution, or a diagnosis.

Although he’s had allergy testing, his doctor recommended trialing the FODMAP diet. The FODMAP diet eliminates certain classes of carbohydrate that the body can find difficult to digest. It is a very restrictive diet and only recommended for a maximum of 6 weeks and must be approved by your doctor/health professional. I have been approved to try it with him to test some intolerances of my own so we’re doing it together! We are 3 days in and struggling already.

A lot of it will involve cooking from scratch, eliminating certain foods, but we both like a good snack/treat. I’m hoping throughout our experience I can write a list of Low FODMAP Foods we find in UK Supermarkets and add to them as we go. Hopefully this list will help anyone else having to trial this diet.

Please comment below with any Low FODMAP Foods you’ve found at Supermarkets around the UK and please do correct me if I’m wrong with any of these.

I cannot guarantee that all of these foods are Low FODMAP so please check the ingredients yourselves before purchasing. They were correct at the time of writing but ingredients do (unfortunately) change often.

Thanks for this list. I’m just starting the restriction phase and need all the tips i can get. Unfortunately dry roast peanuts at Lidl contain onion powder, wheat flour and celery so not low fodmap.

This is crazy. I was just thinking the same thing. My daughter has started fodmap restrictive diet and we are really struggling. Especially foods that kids want to eat, she is only 10.
Finding it difficult online with the amount of contradicting information.

Oh bless her, it’s difficult for an adult, yet alone a child, I hope she’s been getting on OK with it?
