The Ridings Chipping Sodbury

Park 10 of our year of parks is the little but brilliant The Ridings Chipping Sodbury. This has all been upgraded since I last visited and Arthur absolutely loved it. Especially the Climbing Blocks nearer to the Rugby pitches. The main park has all the usual contenders – swings, spinning bowl, various climbing frames, a toddler climbing frame as well as a stand on see-saw which was enjoyed by all of us.

The Toddler Climbing Frame is a nice easy one so definitely one we’ll make use off once Rupert is toddling about. It’s quite rare to find a toddler climbing frame that’s actually toddler friendly. That sounds silly but there’s usually one bit that smaller toddlers can’t do and restricts their independent play. The old Kingsgate Park used to have a rope bridge on that Arthur couldn’t do until he was at least 2. This is much more Toddler Friendly now. We also love Woodchester Park which is in the local area.

The Ridings Chipping Sodbury is based at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club, it has the main enclosed play area, then the Galaxy Climbing Blocks are situated further along the path. As well as the park, there is also a walking/running/cycling loop around the field which is perfect for bike practice. It is also used for Chipping Sodbury Parkrun on Sundays.

Car Parking for The Ridings Chipping Sodbury

There are two car parks for users of the park/rugby club with entrances on Wickwar Road and St. Johns Way. The St. Johns Way car park is nearest to Chipping Sodbury Play Area. The postcode for this car park is BS376GA.

Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club Cafe

The Rugby Club have a cafe open during the week until 1pm. As well as this, Chipping Sodbury High Street is walking distance with some gorgeous independent shops, cafes and coffee shops. Our favourite is Coffee Bean but we also love The Hamptons. Make sure to pay a visit to the gorgeous Swagger Gift Shop too.

Chipping Sodbury Parkrun

Chipping Sodbury Parkrun is my local and one that I used to do without fail pre kids. I’d love to get back into it. Parkrun runs every Sunday at 9am and you can park in either of the two car parks mentioned above.
