Kingsgate Park Yate – Parks For Toddlers and Young Children

Kingsgate Park Yate is somewhere I have been visiting since I was a toddler myself. The Toddler and Young Children area has been in need of an update/improvement for YEARS. It remained the same as it had when I was younger and I’m in my 30s! Although it was sad to see the original equipment removed, it’s been given a new lease of life with this refurbishment and Arthur gets so excited each time we visit. It’s a perfect space for meeting up with friends and enjoying the outdoor space. Especially with the Vintage Birdcage so close by.

They have added new swings, a sand area, a toddler slide/climbing frame and a “giant duck” which is one of few ever to be built. As well as a complete refurbishment of the Toddler and Young Children area, the existing tree top trails have had a new lease of life, the old paint has been removed been lacquered making it look brand new again. The park was opened by the Major of Yate in 2023 although improvements are still ongoing.

As I’ve mentioned above, the nearest *and best* café nearby is the Vintage Birdcage Cakery near the Stanshawes Court Drive entrance. This is perfect for a coffee and cake or a meal such as sandwiches, jacket potatoes and quiche. They also do an incredible afternoon tea but this books well in advance. There are also cafes in Yate Shopping Centre which is a 10 minute walk from Kingsgate Park.
